Géczy, who joined ANZ in 2013, previously held senior executive roles at Lloyds Banking Group and Citigroup. ANZ will announce Géczy's replacement when he steps down at the end of this month, it said.

“Andrew has worked tirelessly over the past few years to transform our international and institutional banking business,” said ANZ's CEO, Shayne Elliott. 

“This includes strengthening ANZ’s institutional client franchise, improving the performance of our Asia-Pacific retail business and consolidating the leading position we have in Australia and in New Zealand and our position as a top four corporate bank in Asia."

The departure comes a month after Elliott, ANZ's previous chief financial officer, was appointed to the helm of the group. At that time, deputy CEO Graham Hodges stepped into the role of acting CFO.
